Serial killer Edmund Kemper killed six young women in the Santa Cruz, California, area and several members of his family. What is a serial killer? A serial killer is commonly known as a mentally deranged person who kills three or more people. Some have motives and some do not. They tend to kill people in a period over a month, with â€Å"cooling down† time between murders. The name of my serial killer is Edmund Kemper, or infamously known as, â€Å"The Co-Ed Butcher†. Edmund Kemper had a troubled childhood. He was born on December 18, 1948 in Burbank, California. He was the middle child of E.E. and Clarnell Kemper. He had two sisters. Kemper was very close to his close to his father at once. His father was a WW2 veteran who tested atomic bombs.†¦show more content†¦At ten years old, Edmund murdered one of the family cats. He buried the cat alive and later killed the second one at the age of 13. The second cat was slaughtered with a knife. The family cats were his first victims. Edmund ran away at the age of 14 searching for his father. He eventually found his father in Van Nuys, California. He went to live with his father for a while but he showed no interest and rejected his son. His father and moved on and remarried again with a stepson. Eventually, Edmund ended up back with his mother. Clarnell, his mother couldn’t handle the troubled teen so she sent him off to live with his grandparents in North Fork, California, but living with his grandparents wouldn’t do him any good. Kemper claimed that his grandmother was similar to his mother, abusive. He had much hate for his grandmother and disliked her. August 27, 1964, at the age of 15, Kemper shot his grandmother in the head while she was finishing a children’s book. He claimed that he had done it to see â€Å"what it felt like†. After his grandfather returned home, he shot and killed him as well afraid that he would be upset after killing his grandmother. He called his mother after killing his grandparents And she told him to call the police and wait which he did. For the crimes he had made, he was handed over to the California Youth Authority.
